Hi, I’m Miranda
I am an artist, an animal lover and a homesteader living in rural western Oregon. I grew up reading Calvin and Hobbes, drawing unicorns and dreaming of a career as a veterinarian or a children’s book illustrator. I have a bachelor’s degree in fine art and a masters in illustration. I’ve illustrated several children’s books and Highlights For Children stories. In 2010 I brought home a little corgi named Pocket and my life was changed.
At about that time I also got into spinning yarn and learning about fiber arts. We then moved back to Oregon where the fiber arts community thrives. At some point I saw a felted corgi online and decided I wanted to try and make that. My first attempt was not a success. But I’m no quitter, and Pocket was the very best muse an artist could ask for.
Fiber Friends was born from a union of my illustration style, love for my best friend and my passion for sustainability and fiber arts. I craft each Friend with love and care, and the not-so-occasional bloodied fingertip. Hundreds of clients (over a thousand) have entrusted me to felt their pets since 2012. Meeting each smiling pup via emailed photos brings me great joy.
Thanks to social media, I have followers and customers who have been with me since my very first felted corgis hit the internet shelves in 2012. I’ve watched puppies grow to seniors and seniors cross the Rainbow Bridge. I’ve felted whole packs of family dogs and I’ve become good friends with clients that I’ve known for years. When we had to help Pocket cross the bridge in 2025, hundreds of ‘strangers on the internet’ reached out with their condolences, cards and the kindest words for a sweet little dog who was well loved by so many. I am so thankful for the ‘soul income’ my odd little career brings in and feel like part of several extended families across the country and world.
Whether you are celebrating your new marriage, welcoming your new baby or standing at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge, it is truly my honor and privilege to help you celebrate and remember your pet.
Because at its root, Fiber Friends is about the bond Pocket and I shared, and about honoring your bond with your best friend.
